My story so far…

I came into the Sanctuary after being found as a stray in a very poor state. The Sanctuary took me straight to the vets to start receiving treatment but it was so painful I couldn’t let anyone touch me. So they decided to give me some pain relief and wait to treat me until the next day when I could be sedated so I wouldn’t be in so much pain.

I was treated at the vets the next day, the vets hoped I would feel better having the affected areas clipped and after they put me on steroid cream, oral steroids, antibiotics and pain relief all to help me recover back at the Sanctuary. Luckily with the treatment and lots of love from my carers in just a few days my skin was already doing so much better!!

Now nearly a couple of months later my skin is nearly completely healed. Sadly it has taken so long for me to recover as I had been left to get in such a bad way for a long period of time. My Carers don’t know any history on me as no owner every came forward to claim me but it is clear I had been suffering for some time with no treatment for my skin to become as bad as it was…

Luckily since coming to the Sanctuary I have been getting all the love and extra care I need thanks to my carers and the amazing volunteers that come and spend lots of time with me giving me all the cuddles and love I really need!!

Home I am looking for…

Now I am feeling much better I am ready to find my forever home with someone who will give me all the love and care I need so I never end up abandoned or in the poor condition I was in before coming to the Sanctuary.

I’d really love somebody who is around the majority of the day as I just love spending time with my people having a cuddle or a mad play with my toys and of course ZOOMIES or having a good sniff around on a walk.

I’m not ready to live with other dogs at the moment as I still don’t understand them but I’m learning so maybe in the future I could live with the right dog.

Behaviour & Training

I am a super sweet loving girl and absolutely adore my people but sometimes I can be a bit reactive to people when I am behind a barrier or on a lead. Partly because I want to get to them and I get annoyed the barrier or lead is stopping me.

Partly because I really am a sensitive girl so I can get a bit worried by strangers coming into my safe space until I know they are not going to hurt me.

At first I was very reactive to dogs but after working with me just in a few short 5 minute sessions my carers realised I am just under socialised with other dogs and despite my reactiveness as I approached the other dog once I actually got face to face with them I then hid behind my carers legs. My carers have been walking me alongside a different dog each day now and I am already doing so much better and can now have a quick sniff and let them sniff me. My carers think once my confidence grows around other dogs I will be quite playful but at the moment they are keeping me on lead in controlled meets so I don’t get scared and panic and make a mistake.

My Carers will show anyone interested in adopting me what to do to introduce me to a new person or what to do with people or dogs walking past so I don’t get worried.

Medical History…

My skin is doing really well now but I’m still having regular gentle baths at the moment to help my skin but I am no longer on any other medication.

I also had ear infections when I came in but with treatment this has cleared up nicely but due to my breed I do need my ears checking and cleaning regularly and my skin folds under my eyes wiping.

My carers have kept me on a hypoallergenic diet as this seems to help my skin so I may need to be kept on a hypoallergenic diet if other foods seem to irritate my skin.

Things to note…

I am a mix of brachycephalic breeds so I can be more susceptible to things like heat stroke in warmer temperatures so new owners need to be aware of this and how to care for me.

I’m still building strength and muscles on my legs and core as I was rather weak when I came to the Sanctuary. I need controlled regular exercise to help strengthen my muscles before I am able to go on longer or more strenuous walks and this will help prevent any injury in the future.

If you think you could offer me the home I need, please fill out an Adoption Enquiry Form. Please make sure you have read about all of my needs and our adoption policies before applying.

Forms lacking in detail or with questions unanswered may not be considered, we need to ensure we are matching our animals to the right home for them.
